From Mexico to Møn - Tv2 Øst

Although you might think it's nicer to surf when it's warm, the conditions for kitesurfing – surfing where you are pulled across the water by a kite – are really good on Møn.

– Here you have calm days, windy days, wildly stormy days and everything in between, says Patrick Nicolas Cohan.

That's why the couple has decided to start a surf school and plans to open a surf center in Klintholm Havn.

Surfing on Møn is good business

Interest proved to be high, already in the first year the surf school existed. In 2021, the couple expanded the business, so in addition to teaching surf techniques, they would also sell coffee, wetsuits, and other gear in a small shop in Klintholm harbor. And the business expansion has proven to be quite sensible.

"We quintupled our revenue from 2020 to 2021. So that's pretty wild," says the co-owner of Møn Surf.

Kesia and Patrick are standard-bearers for the unique entrepreneurial spirit and hipster culture found on Møn, and together they have injected new life into youth culture in Klintholm Havn with a surf school and an accompanying hangout coffeeshop, appealing particularly to young tourists.

In the coming years, we face a major shared task of bringing more life to the destination's harbours, and Kesia and Patrick are showing the way to success. Water sports tourism is booming, and SydkystDanmark is one of the Danish destinations with by far the longest coastline, so the potential to become a new hotspot for water sports on this side of the Great Belt is evident.
